Bio: David Adam Beloff is a photographer who specializes in shooting musicians, glamour, nature & commercial photos. David's main interest is capturing specific moments in time before they get away. Photo shoots are done in David's studios in New York, Virginia and on location everywhere. David's work spans from Europe and Central America to the United States.

This is definitely one of my all time favorite shots! I used a slow shutter speed and ISO 200. I held the camera very still while John was rocking back and forth during a sweet bluesy guitar solo. The result: A double image!

CC DeVille from POISON

For this creative shot of CC DeVille I used my Nikon D100. I lowered my ISO to around 200, then with one steady and swift movement, I zoomed in while I pressed the shutter release button. This created the funky zoom effect. I made sure I kept the focus on CC's face without waivering so it would stay in focus.

James Brown. The G-dfather of soul. The hardest working man in show business. Soul brother number one. The man who took the "wet" out of "sweat". What an amazing opportunity I had to photograph this living legend. His show was amazing, high energy and just plain coooool.

I shot with my Nikon D100 with no flash in shutter priority mode.

Harland Williams is hilarious! I first saw him in the stoner movie "Half Baked". He was also in the movie "Because of Winn Dixie" in which he acted opposite Dave Matthews.

David Allen Grier

David Allen Grier starred in the comedy show "In Living Color". I remember him as Eddie Murphy's buddy in the movie " Boomerang". He is VERY funny!

Charlie Murphy

Charlie Murphy performed at Funnybone comedy club in Virginia Beach. Charlie is best known for his appearance in "Chappelle's Show" (I'm Rick James Bitch!) He is also mentioned many times in his brother's comedy shows (Eddie Murphy)

I shot him using my Fujifilm Finepix F10 with an ISO of 1600 and no flash.

John Mayer

This photograph of John Mayer was taken at Anthem Live's Tennis Match Cancer Research Benefit starrring tennis pros Andy Roddick and James Blake and musicians Gavin DeGraw and John Mayer. John's thirty minute set included "No Such Thing", Clarity" and a new song (that I recommended to him that he play) called "Vultures". The set went well. I was happy to have helped.

For this shot of John Mayer at the aforementioned cancer benefit , I wanted to do something different than the usual tightly cropped performer photo. Instead, I focused in on John's shadow on the tennis court floor. I noticed John hair, microphone and guitar being the prominent focal point after I framed the shot so I went with it. I think it is one of the most effective of all my musicians shots.

Gavin DeGraw

Gavin DeGraw opened the cancer benefit with a truly amazing stripped-down performance. Solo on his piano, Gavin's soulful voice truly penetrated throughout ODU's TED Constant Convention Center. Among others, Gavin played his hits "Chariot" and "I Don't Wanna Be". I became an instant fan.

As a huge 311 fan, the hardest part about photographing them was forcing myself not to rock out and dance when they first came out. This band has officially got jamming out "down" to a science. This shot of S A Martinez was fairly difficult to get because S A doesn't stay still very long. He rocks back and forth to the music and paces the stage with unremorsed ferocity, as seen in my photograph.

Blues Traveler

For this shot of the incomparable John Popper of Blues Traveler I used on of my favorite techniques. Using my Nikon D100 digital SLR, I set a slow shutter speed then gripped my zoom lens and waited for the lights to become perfect. I then began twisting my zoom lens (zooming in) while I released the shutter creating a funky-fast zoomed image of John Popper.

Notice his two microphones. One for his voice, the other for his harmonica. That's Blues Traveler.

Sol Libre

Sol Libre (Free Sun) is a spanish-guitar driven instrumental band from Callis, Spain. They are the perfect band to play when you are relaxing and just want to zone out to great music. Led by guitar-great, Jaime Freeman, Sol Libre has put out some amazing stuff on their cd, "Blues of the Urban Gypsy" which can be ordered online only at their website: www.sollibre.com

Eddie Griffin

It was pretty difficult photographing the "Undercover Brother" while he was performing stand-up because he insisted on including me in his routine. I don't know if you've ever been busted on by a professional comic but let me tell you, you have to be extra ready to fire back. Eddie finally asked me who I was taking pictures for. When I told "Playboy Magazine" he moved on to other material. Whew!

Dave Matthews Band

One of my top goals in life is to photograph the Dave Matthews Band...up close. They are truly my favorite band, so I just HAD to put them on my website. Unfortunately, I did not have a photo pass at this concert (Red Rocks Amphitheater 9-11-05) so I was forced to sit with everyone esle and take photos.

I decided not to use a flash with caused an artistic and blurry effect. I then imported the photo into photoshop and added a waterdolor painting filter. This shot of Dave Matthews and Stefan Lessard was taken with my friend's point and shoot camera.
